Day 13 – The Flood Came Fast
It started as light rain.
Then it got heavier. In less than 30 minutes, the streets around Ama’s neighborhood were rivers.
Water gushed into her house. Electricity was still on.
She panicked — grabbed her phone, charger, and waded through knee-deep water.
Suddenly — a zap.
She felt a shock.
She dropped everything and barely made it out through the window.
Ama survived. But others weren’t so lucky.
Emergencies don’t wait for your plan. Your plan should wait for the emergency.
Do you have one?
Know the safest exit routes.
Turn off electricity at the mains during floods.
Keep an emergency bag (torch, water, meds, radio).
Don’t walk or drive through floodwaters — even shallow water can sweep you away.
Preparation is protection. Make your emergency plan before you need it.
