Job Purpose:

The Metallurgical Superintendent provides leadership and direction to the technical operations group for the safe and efficient operation of the Namdini Gold Mine processing plant. Responsible for achieving improvement in all processing plant aspects and liaising with the Process Manager.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the metallurgy team to promote safety culture and ensure compliance with safety audits.
  • Ensure compliance with Ghanaian Mine Safety Regulations.
  • Conduct technical training and identify training needs for staff.
  • Develop standard metallurgical test work programs and routine operating strategy.
  • Provide technical information to stakeholders.
  • Assist in budgeting and capital expenditure requests.
  • Develop a production management system focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Perform duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills or Experience

Minimum qualification(s)

  • A degree in Metallurgy / Chemical Engineering / Ore Processing
  • Statutory Senior Mine Officials Certificates of Competency – Processing Superintendent or Processing Manager’s level
  • Master’s degree in management is highly desirable
  • Must be able to drive and possess a valid Ghanaian driving license

Experience (Minimum)

  • Minimum of 10 years of operational metallurgical experience
  • At least 3 years operating as the head of the metallurgical section

Knowledge (In-depth)

  • Advanced knowledge of comminution processes, especially the SABC process and practical experience is best.
  • Advanced knowledge of the operation of flotation, especially gold-containing sulfide flotation.
  • Advanced knowledge of the cyanide leaching process of gold ores, especially CIL/CIP process and the detoxification process for cyanide-containing tailings or solutions.
  • Understand metal balance, water balance, and cyanide balance work in the mineral processing plant.
  • Metallurgical improvement programs for delivering sustained improvements in plant throughput and metal recovery
  • Management of small to medium capital projects in processing plant
  • Metallurgical Test work

Skills

  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (written and oral).
  • Being able to use Chinese is a plus
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced computer literacy skills – MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and SAP.
  • Advanced planning, organizing, and prioritizing skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
