Taking a picture of this outcrop without the hammer on it is wrong. Why?

A whole project can be rejected just because of this miss

The hammer serves as a scale to the outcrop. Because the geological hammer has a standard size and its globally recognized, it gives us the change to know the average size of the outcrop(Rock)

Outcrop features can appear larger or smaller than they really are, depending on camera angle and zoom. A hammer helps avoid misinterpretation.

In geology, photos are used for analysis, teaching, or publication. A photo without scale reduces its value as a scientific record.
